注意：如果工作過程中蓄電池與充電裝置之間的連接被斷開的話．充電裝置將會損壞。損壞之所以發生是因為喪失了來自蓄電池的負載，充電電壓增高。電壓過高可能損壞充電裝置、調壓器和其它電氣部件。

采用適當的蓄電池負載測試儀測試沒有保持充電的蓄電池。

蓄電池在每一次定期檢查時的充電狀況將會指示充電系統操作是否正確。如果蓄電池經常充電不足或者需要大量補水時．就需要進行調整。測試發動機上的充電裝置和電壓調節器。使用充電系統自帶的接線和部件。這種測試可以指出所需進行的修理。修理進行完畢后．要進行測試以便證實裝正已被修理懨復到原來正常的工作狀況。為檢查交流發電機輸出是否正確．請參閱《技術規格》。在發動機上進行測試之前．必須按照以下步驟對充電系統和蓄電池進行檢查。

1．蓄電池必須至少達到完全充電的75%。蓄電池必須固定在位。蓄電池固定夾  定不能向蓄電池施加太大的應力。

2．蓄電池、起動機和發動機接地之間的電纜的尺寸必須正確。電線和電纜一定不能有銹蝕。電線和電纜必須安裝支撐卡箍，以防止對蓄電池接頭（接線端）施加應力。

3．檢查充電裝置的驅動部件以確保這些部件上沒有，確保這些驅動部件能使充電裝置正常運轉。

Perkins4016柴油發動機兩個起動馬達以并聯方式安裝。將適當的萬用表設置在DCV檔，以查找功能異常的起動系統部件。轉動起動控制開關以使起動電磁閥通電工作。起動電磁閥的操作可以從起動馬達的小齒輪與發動機飛輪齒圈嚙合時發出的聲音中聽出來。如果起動馬達電磁閥不工作，蓄電池的電流可能沒有流到電磁閥。此時，將萬用表的根導線接到電磁閥的蓄電池電纜接頭的接線端。將另  根導線連接至蓄電池負極。若讀數為霉，則說明來自蓄電池的電路開路。若萬用表上有電壓讀數顯示，則需進步測試。

Perkins4016柴油發動機電磁閥的操作也同時接通了通向馬達的電路。將萬用表的  根導線接到緊固在馬達上的電磁閥接頭的接線端。將另一根導線固定至蓄電池負極。讓起動電磁閥通電工作，觀察萬用表。若讀數顯示了蓄電池電壓．則說明故障出在馬達上。此時必須拆下馬達作進一步測試。若萬用表讀數為零，則說明電磁閥觸點沒有閉合。如果觸點沒有閉合的話，應修理電磁閥。起動馬達小齒輪的間隙可能也需要調整。將萬用表的一根導線接到電磁閥的細線接頭的接線端上，另一根導線接至蓄電池負極。讓Perkins4016柴油發動機起動電磁閥通電工作的同時觀察萬用表。若有電壓讀數顯示，則說明故障出在電磁閥上。若讀數為霉，則說明問題出在起動開關或起動開關的接線上。將萬用表的一根導線固定到連接蓄電池接線的起動開關接頭的接線端上。將另一根導線固定至蓄電池負極。若讀數為零則說明來自蓄電池的電路開路。檢查斷路器和接線。若有電壓讀數顯示，故障出在起動開關或起動開關的導線上。
